After almost two years of trials and tribulations three founding members of Ratt were reunited Saturday February 11, 2017 at the Treasure Island Resort & Casino in Red Wing, MN. Stephen Pearcy, Warren DeMartini, and Juan Croucier were joined by long time Ratt guitarist Carlos Cavazo (formerly of Quiet Riot) and (drum roll please) Jimmy Degrasso (formerly of Megadeth) behind the kit. It was almost as if no time had passed at all. On a night like this the only thing missing was late guitarist Robbin Crosby.
Playing to a full house, Ratt immediately blew away the crowd opening with one of their hit songs “Wanted Man” that followed with an immediate transition to “Dangerous But Worth The Risk”. They were out for blood Saturday night. Between the flawless transitions and unison endings, you’d think these guys had been living in a rehearsal studio for months.
The crowd was given the show they deserved. A highly animated DeMartini with his signature Charvel San Dimas “crossed swords” guitar commanded control of stage left, while an energetic Pearcy kept the room wanting more with his unparalleled singing. As always Croucier provided the show with his earth moving bass lines and refined back up vocals that gives every song it’s signature sound. Cavazo did more than provide Crosby’s solos justice as he gave them new life and along with Degrasso the band was complete.
Before the band could head into their signature closer “Round and Round”, Pearcy was giving a final thanks to the crowd, when DeMartini chimed in with, “Who’s the new guy?”, to which Stephen replied “Oh that guy,” while signaling to the drums, “Oh thats Jimmy.” “Jimmy Degrasso,” DeMartini finished. It was clear they were excited to have “the new guy” behind the kit that night. Pearcy kindly reminded the crowd, “don’t kid yourselves we dont take this for granted,” and it’s clear they didn’t for a second.
As for the future, fans can expect a new Ratt album, Stephen was quoted as saying that he and Warren “are working on new songs and hope to record a new album by the end of the year.” In the mean time for more you can check out Pearcy’s latest solo album “Smash” which he will be on tour supporting this spring.
